There are a number of common myths about high cholesterol. These myths include: high cholesterol only occurs in older adults, a person must feel sick to have high cholesterol, and home cholesterol tests are very accurate.1 It is also believed by many that only people with high cholesterol get heart disease, however, the same can be true of people with low cholesterol.2
