  • Common symptoms are sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing and cough.
  • The common cold is spread mostly by hand-to-hand contact.
  • There is no proven treatment for the common cold. Be sure to get plenty of rest, and drink fluids to maintain hydration. Gargling with warm salt water, using cough drops, throat sprays, saline nasal sprays, and over-the-counter cold medicines may help.
