Colostomy


Colostomy is a surgical procedure that involves in creating an opening to the abdominal wall and attaching part of the large intestine to it to provide a way out for the feces. It is performed on patients with intestinal problems such as colorectal cancer, diverticulitis and intestinal obstruction. A temporary colostomy can also be performed after a colon surgery to facilitate healing.
