Cognex is a brand name for the drug tacrine. Tacrine is a cholinesterase inhibitor agent employed in the treatment of dementia in Alzheimer's disease. The drug elevates the acetylcholine level in the brain. It is however associated with liver problems, hence regular blood tests must be performed to check possible toxicity.
