Research Notes on Clitoris Piercing
The concept behind clitoral piercing is to enhance sexual pleasure. Not all women are candidates for clitoral piercings as the size of the clitoris must be adequate to support the piercing.1 The total healing time after piercing can be up to 2 to 3 months, and women must wait at least two weeks post-piercing before having sex.2
Fast Facts:
- There is a risk of nerve damage associated with this piercing.3
- If the clitoris is not big enough to pierce, vertical clitoral hood and/or labia piercings may be an option.4
- Those with increased vulnerability to infection and with a greater likelihood of hemorrhage may be at a greater risk for complications due to clitoral piercing.5
