Research Notes on Citalopram Adverse Reactions
Citalopram is a medication used to treat depression and other mood related problems. It is a powerful serotonin reuptake inhibitor.1Adverse reactions to citalopram may include drowsiness, insomnia, increased sweating and nausea.2 Insomnia has been reported in up to 15 percent of patients. 3

- Adverse effects occur mostly during the first one or two weeks of treatment and usually subside as the depression improves.4
- Adverse effects are generally mild and temporary.4
