Research Notes on Chronic Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain is the pain that occurs in and around your shoulder. A common cause of shoulder pain is soreness of the tendon. Chronic shoulder pain can be caused by tendinitis, injury, and arthritis.1 Pain can also be caused by frozen shoulder syndrome which can be caused when you don't move your shoulder due to the pain or an injury.2

- See a doctor when shoulder pain is accompanied by shortness of breath or tightness in the chest.3
- Tests a doctor will use to find the causes of pain include x-rays, arthrogram, and an MRI.
- Shoulder pain can often be prevented by maintaining good posture.
