Chronic Pericarditis

Research Notes on Chronic Pericarditis

Chronic pericarditis is the long standing inflammation of the pericardium accompanied by fluid accumulation within the pericardial space. It starts as an acute disease and worsens over time. Since the condition may be a result of several factors such as a previous heart injury, or infections caused by bacterial, mycobacteria, viruses, and fungi, it is important to identify the underlying cause, so that it may be addressed properly.
