Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a disorder characterized by a state of chronic fatigue. It can persists for more than 6 month accompanied by cognitive disorders.1 A study reported no improvement in symptoms with the use of light therapy in CFS. However, it can still benefit some patients with CFS whose symptoms are similar to those of patients with seasonal affective disorder (SAD).2

- --People who have sensitive eyes or skin should not use light therapy without first consulting a doctor.3
- --Side effects from light therapy are rare. It can include jitteriness, eyestrain and headache.4
- --Light therapy is also used for seasonal affective disorder with 65% of patients experience marked relief of symptoms of depression.5
