Cholinesterase inhibitors are a group of medications that are part of the medical management of Alzheimer's disease. They increase the level of a brain chemical called acetylcholine, which is important in learning and memory retention. Aricept, Exelon and Razadyne are the most commonly prescribed cholinesterase inhibitors.
