Cholesterol and Coffee

Research Notes on Cholesterol and Coffee

In the past few years, studies have uncovered more and more evidence linking coffee to increased cholesterol levels. The culprit, researchers say, is the substance called cafestol. It is found most abundant in unfiltered coffee drinks, such as those prepared using the French press. Studies reveal that drinking boiled coffee regularly increases cholesterol levels by 8% in males and 10% in females.
