Research Notes on Cholesterol Lowering Vitamins
Foods rich in vitamins C and E can help reduce cholesterol levels.1 Niacin also reduces a person's bad cholesterol (LDL) and raises the good cholesterol (HDL).2 Other vitamins and herbs that can help to lower cholesterol include artichoke leaf, soluble fiber and plant sterols.3
Fast Facts:
- Garlic helps lower the liver's production of cholesterol.1
- The American Heart Association recommends people eat a diet consisting of plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and nuts.2
- Plant sterols can reduce LDL by ten to fifteen percent.4
