Research Notes on Children and Sleepwalking
Sleepwalking is a sleep disorder where a child partly awakens at night, walks or does other things, without remembering the following morning. Sleepwalking begins when the child is already in deep sleep, occurring during rapid eye movement. This type of sleep disorder is usually outgrown by many children; however, it is important to take precautionary measures to ensure their safety. It is advised that the child’s bedroom be located at the ground floor; all doors and windows locked. The bedroom should be quiet, cozy, and conducive to sleeping. The child should be taught good sleeping habits and learn to relax for a while before going to bed.
