Research Notes on Child Abuse
Child abuse refers to physical, sexual, emotional or psychological abuse of a child by an adult. Neglect also falls under the category of child abuse. Most child abuse happens in the home, but cases are also found in organizations that are supposed to protect the safety of children, such as churches, schools and child care centers. There are many resources in the US for children suffering abuse and their families.
