Research Notes on Chapped Lips
Chapped lips can appear to be cracked and dry. Environmental conditions, prescription drugs, and certain vitamin deficiencies can be causes of chapped lips.1 Chapped lips can be seen in people of all ages, but are more common in people ages 7-15 years of age.

- Usually causes scaling or moderate swelling.1
- Petroleum jelly is a common and inexpensive treatment for chapped lips.
- Medicated lip preparations should be avoided.
