Research Notes on Central Nervous System
The central nervous system (CNS) is composed of the spinal cord and the brain. The spinal cord picks up sensory information from the peripheral nervous system and sends it to the brain. It also serves as a conductor of motor information from the brain to the other parts of the body, such as the muscles, to produce movement. The brain processes inputs from the spinal cord, and initiates and coordinates motor outputs.
