Research Notes on Cellulitis
Cellulitis is an infection of the deep subcutaneous tissue of the skin. Cellulitis can be caused by normal skin flora or by exogenous bacteria, and often occurs where the skin has previously been broken: cracks in the skin, cuts, blisters, burns, insect bites, surgical wounds, or sites of intravenous catheter insertion. The mainstay of therapy remains treatment with appropriate antibiotics. ...read more from Wikipedia

- Early symptoms may include fever, headache, nausea, or itching and early signs of redness on the affected area.1
- Cellulitis treatment is with antibiotics, usually perscribed cephalexin (Keflex).2
- Possible complications is not treated could be gangrene, sepsis, meningitis, or lymphangitis.3
