Research Notes on Celecoxib
Celecoxib belongs to a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or (NSAIDs). Celecoxib works by reducing substances that cause inflammation, pain, and fever in the body. Doctors prescribe celecoxib to treat symptoms associated with conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It is also used to treat acute pain, painful menstruation, and to reduce the number of colon and rectum polyps in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis.1
