Research Notes on Catnip
Known for centuries as a euphoric treat for cats, catnip also contains health benefits for humans. The leaves of the catnip herb are often made into a tea which is used to treat fevers, diarrhea, menstrual cramps, anxiety and even calm fussy babies.1 There are reports that it can be used to repel roaches and kill flies.2
Fast Facts:
- Some studies show it to be effective in repelling mosquitos.3
- Candied leaves can be used as an after dinner mint to freshen breath and aid in digestion.4
- Catnip tea will lose potency if not kept covered.5
