Research Notes on Carotid Artery Stenosis Symptoms
Carotid artery stenosis is also called carotid artery disease.1 The carotid arteries supply oxygenated blood to the front part of the brain.1 When the arteries narrow due to plaque buildup, the arteries become blocked and an individual is at an increased risk of stroke.1

- There may not be any signs or symptoms of carotid artery stenosis.2
- Transient ischemic attacks may be one sign.2
- Blurred vision, confusion, slurring of speech or trouble swallowing are possible symptoms.2
