Incontinence is one of the leading reasons of nursing home placement. One persistent myth is that incontinence is a natural part of the aging process, and that nothing can be done to fix the problem. Watch for signs that the person may need to use the bathroom, have a routine and stick to it, and most of all be understanding when accidents do occur.
