Research Notes on Caregiving for Alzheimer's
The average lifetime for a person with Alzheimers is 8 to 10 years. Three out of four caregivers for these patients are women. Research has shown that these caregivers themselves are at an increased risk of depression and illness. Finding a support group, speaking with your doctor about the illness, and contacting organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association can all help in giving you the skills and resources to cope.
