Caregivers and Depression

GuideWisdom™

This WisdomCard managed by: Aimee Abellaneda

Being a caregiver for a loved one can lead to depression. Often a caregiver sacrifices his or her own needs in order to provide the best possible care, and in doing so, can begin to feel emotional strain. Depression can lead to feelings of guilt, which can then lead to anger, and finally depression again. This cycle continues until a support system is sought. Respite care, support groups, and local agencies can all be wonderful resources to a caregiver dealing with depression.
