Research Notes on Cardiac Surgery Pioneer, Dr. Michael DeBakey, Passes Away
Dr. Michael E. DeBakey, a world renowned heart surgeon, passed away from natural causes at the age of 99. Dr. DeBakey was the pioneer who created the bypass surgery which is now commonly used all over the world. He helped create over 70 surgical instruments and also invented the roller pump which replaces the heart and lungs during surgery.
