Calan SR is a brand name for the drug verapamil. It is classified as a calcium channel blocker and is available in sustained release capsules.1 It is used to treat hypertension.2 For more information, see the verapamil WisdomCard.

- Because certain drugs may interact with this medication, you should speak to your health care provider about any medicines you are currently taking.1
- You should also tell your physician of other medical conditions you may have such as liver disease, kidney disease, congestive heart failure, muscle disorders, or nerve disorders.2
- Most common side effects include constipation, dizziness, and nausea.1
- More severe side effects such as irregular heart beat, faintness, edema, or shortness of breath, should be reported to your physician as soon as possible.2
