The easiest way to prevent chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is to not smoke.1 Smoking is the leading cause of COPD.1 If you have COPD, quitting smoking can slow the progression of the disease.1 Joining a smoking cessation program can help you to stop smoking.
