Research Notes on Butorphanol
Butorphanol, sold under the brand name Stadol, is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. It is similar to morphine. Butorphanol is used to treat moderate to severe pain. It is also used as part of anesthesia for surgery, or during early labor. According to the FDA, the brand name stadol nasal spray has been discontinued. However, the generic, butorphanol tartrate nasal spray, is still being produced and distributed by three manufacturers -- Novex, Mylan, and Roxane.
