Research Notes on Buspar Dosage


The initial dosage of Buspar for the treatment of anxiety is typically 15mg daily, given in two 7.5mg doses.1 Your doctor may increase your dosage every two to three days by 5mg per day, as needed.1 It is not recommended that you exceed 60mg per day.1

  • If you miss a dose of Buspar, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is time for your next dose. In this case, omit the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine.2
  • It may take up to two weeks to feel the affects of this Buspar.2

  • Brand name for the generic buspirone.
