Research Notes on Brugada Syndrome
The Brugada syndrome is a genetic disease that is characterized by abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG) findings and an increased risk of sudden cardiac death. It is also known as Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome (SUDS), and is the most common cause of sudden deaths in young men without any known underlying cardiac disease in Thailand and Laos. ...read more from Wikipedia.

- Brugada syndrome is an inherited disorder of cardiac electrophysiology causing an increased risk of syncope and sudden death1
- It is more prevalent in men aged 30-50 years than in women.2
- An implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) is the only treatment that has been proven effective for Brugada syndrome.2
- Symptoms include: syncope, ventricular arrhythmia, seizures, breathing difficulties.3
