Research Notes on Bromocriptine


Bromocriptine is a dopamine agonist that is used in the treatment of various disorders such as Parkinson's disease, female infertility and abnormal breast discharge.1 Side effects include drowsiness, constipation, nausea and headache.2 Medications such as birth control pills, high blood pressure medications and migraine headache medications may have negative interactions with bromocriptine.3

  • Swelling of feet or ankles, irregular heartbeat, confusion or watery discharge from the nose warrant immediate medical attention.4
  • Take with food or milk.5
  • Medication should be stored away from light.
