Bromelain is a complex combination of substances that can be extracted from the core fruit and stem of the pineapple. A group of protein-digesting enzymes have been studied by researchers and have been shown to have a wide variety of health benefits. Originally thought to only aid in digestion studies are now showing that certain types of tumor growth, excessive inflammation, and excessive coagulation of the blood may be reduced when taken as a dietary supplement.
