Research Notes on Breech Presentation
A breech presentation is when an unborn baby is poised to come out buttocks or feet first. Breech babies are normally delivered by cesarean section, however it may be possible to be able to deliver vaginally in some cases.
Fast Facts:
- Most breech babies will turn naturally before childbirth.
- The breech presentation occurs in 3–4% of full-term births.
- Babies are twice as likely to be born bottom first if either or both parents were themselves born in that position.
