Research Notes on Breastfeeding Problems: Sore Nipples
When breastfeeding the cause for sore nipples is usually due to one or both of two causes. Either the baby is not positioned and latched properly, or the baby is not sucking properly or both. If the baby has to suck or pull your nipple into her mouth it can cause soreness and pain. Sometimes, creams, lotions or soaps may cause dermatitis which can make your nipples sore, or you may become tender if you become pregnant again while breastfeeding. Even a badly fitting bra can cause nipple soreness by putting pressure on your nipples. Listed are sites to help you with sore nipples from breastfeeding and help you find a solution.
