Research Notes on Breast Reconstruction and Seroma
A seroma is a gathering of serous fluid. This is common after any type of breast surgery. If the seroma becomes very large then it can be very uncomfortable and the stretching of the skin at the mastectomy or reconstruction site can create some pretty odd-feeling sensations. In this scenario then it is an easy thing for a doctor to drain off the excess liquid with a simple needle and syringe.
