Research Notes on Breast Cancer Recurrance Symptoms
Symptoms associated with breast cancer recurrence are sometimes difficult to distinguish simply because symptoms vary depending upon where the cancer spreads.1 Any mass or lump in the breast can be a symptom that breast cancer has recurred in the breast tissue, while bone and back pain can be a symptom associated with cancer which has spread to the bone.2
Fast Facts:
- Swelling in the arm or neck can signal a local recurrence of breast cancer.2
- Headaches, chest pain, and shortness of breath are all symptoms of metastatic recurrence.2
- If lymph nodes are involved with an initial diagnosis of breast cancer, women appear to be more likely to experience a return of the cancer.1
