Brachytherapy for Mesothelioma

Research Notes on Brachytherapy for Mesothelioma

Brachytherapy (also known as sealed source radiotherapy or endocurietherapy) is a form of radiotherapy used as an advanced treatment for mesothelioma. The procedure introduces radioactive chemicals directly into the site of the mesothelioma cancer by inserting a thin plastic tube into the chest or abdomen. Although the therapy causes side effects such as fatigue, nausea, and vomiting, they are sometimes only temporary and can often be controlled by medications.
