Research Notes on Brachytherapy and Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is a disease of uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung. This growth may lead to metastasis, invasion of adjacent tissue and infiltration beyond the lungs. One treatment option for lung cancer is brachytherapy. It is a procedure where radioactive material is sealed in needles, seeds, wires, catheters, or “applicators” and placed directly into or near body cavities affected by cancer.
