Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a mental disorder in which a person has difficulty regulating emotions and often makes impulsive decisions and actions, leading to chaotic relationships and unstable moods.1 Symptoms of borderline personality disorder include reckless behavior, inability to accept responsibility for personal actions, feelings of emptiness, and frequent outbursts of inappropriate anger.2 BPD typically appears in late childhood and appears to be more common in women than men.3 Treatment options include medications and individual and group therapy.2 The success of treatment relies on you adhering to the treatment schedule, attending therapy, and taking the medications as scheduled.2
