Research Notes on Boniva Warnings and Precautions
There are certain warnings and precautions to be aware of when taking Boniva. This medication can cause irritation or damage to the esophagus and stomach. Some people experience extreme muscle or bone pain while taking this drug. Although rare, Boniva can lead to osteonecrosis of the jaw.1

- Taking Boniva with aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications may increase the risk of developing stomach problems.2
- Boniva is used in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in post-menopausal women.3
- Boniva is a brand name for the drug ibandronate.
