Research Notes on Boniva Interactions
NSAID medications should not be taken with Boniva (ibandronate), as serious drug interactions may occur. Although many medications are routinely taken together, dangerous drug interactions can occur when other medications or supplements are combined. It is very important that patients inform physicians and pharmacists of all prescription, over-the-counter, herbal, and vitamin supplements that may be used when taking Boniva.1
Fast Facts:
- Medications known to interact with Boniva include: aluminum hydroxide, antacids, and aspirin.2
- Supplements can pose a danger to Boniva patients as well. Consult with a physician before using any of the following: iron supplements, calcium, and magnesium.2
