Research Notes on Bone Metastasis
Bone metastasis is cancer that has developed in one area of the body can spread beyond that site and invade other parts of the body. This is called metastasis. Bones are a common site of metastasis. When cancer cells spread to the bones they can cause bone damage.1
Fast Facts:
- Also called metastatic bone disease (MBD) or secondary bone cancer.
- More common than primary bone cancer.2
- Symptoms include bone pain, broken bones, pressure on the spinal cord, and high blood calcium.2
- Treatment depends on the type of cancer, extent of the spread, any prior treatment and other factors.2
