Research Notes on Autologous Blood Donation
Autologous blood donation is when a person gives their own blood for the purpose of being reinfused back into themselves, if needed. This type of donation is most common before a patient is about to undergo surgery. It is the safest form of blood transfusion available because there is no chance that the blood will not be a match.
