Contraindications to blepharoplasty should be taken into consideration to prevent possible complications from occurring. Patients with severe dry eye syndrome should not undergo blepharoplasty as it can cause temporary upper lid failure resulting to drying of the cornea. Other factors to consider are intact Bell's reflex, proptosis (eye dislocation or eye luxation) and natural deep set eyes as it can further emphasize the hollow look.
