Blackberries are loaded with phytochemicals and the antioxidants vitamin C, vitamin E and selenium. Like raspberries, blackberries also contain ellagic acid, a phenolic compound that is known to have anti-carcinogenic, anti-mutagenic, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. All these nutrients in blackberries can help prevent heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.
