Research Notes on Birth Control Pills for Middle-Aged Women
There are a few caveats in the use of oral contraceptives in middle-aged women. Studies have found that there is an increased risk of developing cardiovascular problems in middle aged women taking birth control pills. Stroke incidence is also high in this population. Some studies have shown that there is an increased risk of having breast cancer in women who are taking birth control pills. However, other factors should be considered in the development of these diseases and should not be attributed to the pills alone.
