Birth control pills contain estrogen which is a hormone that improves symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It has been observed that RA symptoms of pregnant women diminish during pregnancy, when the estrogen levels are high. There is also a study that showed a lower incidence of RA among women who are taking birth control pills.
