The Pill or oral contraceptive pill is the most common type of birth control.1 The pills are made up of hormones that control the ovaries and the uterus.2 This type of birth control prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation, thickening the walls of the uterus and keeping the fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus.3
