Research Notes on Birth Control Injections
The birth control injection, or "The Shot," is an injectable progestin-only prescription method of reversible birth control. A women must receive the shot every three months for it to be effective. Upon stopping the treatment, it takes an average of 9 to 10 months to become pregnant.
