Research Notes on Bipolar Disorder and Sleep Disruption
Sleep disturbances are a symptom of both mania and depression in people with bipolar disorder. Disruption in sleep is a known trigger of manic episodes in bipolar patients. It is very important for bipolar patients to try to maintain a regular sleep pattern to help ward off those episodes. Recording sleep problems can also help warn of possible upcoming mood changes.1
