Research Notes on Bipolar Disorder and Switching
Bipolar disorder is a medical illness that can cause extreme shifts in mood. Mood, energy, and functioning are affected during a switching phase.1 Switching occurs when the individual goes into mania or hypomania.2 The severity and occurrence of the depressive or manic changes differ for each individual.3
